Terms of Service

1. About us
The Security Advisor is a trading name of Chestnut Risk Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16928424. We run this website, thesecurityadvisor.co.uk. You can contact us at admin@thesecurityadvisor.co.uk.
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you buy a service from us, the sections on CV services also apply.
2. Using the website
- You can browse course reviews without an account. To write reviews and unlock our free CV advice, employment advice and articles, you need a free account.
- You must be 18 or over to create an account, and the details you give us must be accurate.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- Don't misuse the site: no attempts to break its security, scrape it, or use it to send spam.
3. Reviews
Reviews are written by members and published straight away. When you post a review you confirm that:
- It's about a course you actually attended, and reflects your honest experience.
- You aren't the training provider, and don't work for or have a business connection with them or a competitor.
- It doesn't contain anything false, defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, or anyone's personal information.
- You've written it yourself.
Writing reviews unlocks free resources on the site. That reward is the same whatever rating you give: positive and negative reviews count equally, and we never pay for, edit or hide reviews because of their rating. Training providers can't pay to remove reviews or to be ranked higher, and we don't sell course listings.
You keep ownership of what you write, but you give us a free, ongoing permission to show it on the website and in our app. Anyone can report a review. We may remove reviews, photos or accounts that break these terms.
4. Our content
Our articles, guides, advice and templates are for your personal use in your own job search. Please don't republish, sell or share them in bulk without our permission. Our advice is general guidance: always check current requirements with the SIA and employers.
5. CV writing services
What you get
- Bespoke CV & Cover Email (£120): a CV written for you for the security industry, with a matching cover email, supplied as Word and PDF files.
- Tailor Your CV to a Job (£50): we adapt your CV to a specific job description you send us. This service is only available for CVs we've written for you.
We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
How it works
You pay online through Stripe, our payment provider. After payment we'll email you to collect your current CV (if you have one) and the details we need. We aim to deliver within [X working days] of receiving everything we need from you. [Say how many rounds of changes are included, e.g. "One round of changes is included."]
The finished CV and cover email are yours to use as you wish once paid for.
Your right to cancel
As a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of your order without giving a reason. If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, we may keep a fair amount for the work already done. Once we've fully delivered the service, you can no longer cancel. To cancel, email admin@thesecurityadvisor.co.uk and we'll refund any amount due within 14 days, to your original payment method.
If something isn't right
Tell us and we'll put it right. This doesn't affect your legal rights: services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
We'll write the best CV we can, but we can't guarantee interviews or job offers. Those depend on employers and on you.
6. Advertising
Adverts on the site are clearly labelled. Advertisers have no influence over reviews, ratings or which courses we show. Advertising bookings are covered by a separate agreement.
7. Links to other websites
We link to training providers and other sites. We aren't responsible for their content, courses or services.
8. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses. For our paid services, our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid. The free parts of the site are provided as they are. We try to keep them accurate and available but can't promise they'll always be error-free or uninterrupted.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place an order applies to that order.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
